These bars are chewy, and sweet, and disappear before your eyes. Covered in powdered sugar, stuffed full of Pecans and laced with Cinnamon there isn’t anything not to
love about these easy to make bars.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 C. Butter soft
- 1 C. Sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/2 C. Flour
- 1/4 tsp. Salt
- 1 1/4 tsp. Cinnamon
- 1 C. Finley Chopped
Directions:
Preheat Oven to 350 degrees. Cream Butter, and sugar. Add Egg and beat until light and fluffy. Add Flour, salt, cinnamon and Chopped Pecans. Beat until smooth. Pour into greased 8 inch pan. Bake 35-40 Minutes. Remove from oven and let cool for about 10 minutes and then cut before they completely cool. After they completely cool remove from pan and roll into powdered sugar, and enjoy!
I tell you to cut them after 10 minutes because if you let them cool completely they are much harder to cut. I can never get the bars to be perfectly square, but what this bar
lacks in beauty it makes up for in taste. This recipe is a one bowl, one pan cookie, and it is very easy to make, so if you are looking for a quick cookie to serve for an unexpected dinner party you are invited to, or for friends stopping by on short notice this is perfect for you.
That is the last of the three cookie recipes I have for you this week. I took a picture of the tray that I sent over to my husband’s work. The tray came back empty I was a little disappointed I really wanted another Ultimate Cherry cookie, but I am glad that they all loved them so much.
I have a lot to do this weekend, I am going off to Fairmount Park tonight, my very first time going to see a horse race. I have no idea what I think of it, but it is high time I check it out. Hopefully sometime this weekend I will get to check out another place in St. Louis that I love and be able to add another article to the Visit STL page. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, be safe, and have fun.

Russian Tea Cookies, Mexican Wedding Cakes, and even Snowball cookies?
What do these three names have in common?
The three different names are all for just one type of cookie. If I had time to digg more I might be able to find even more names for this delicious cookie. No matter which of the three names you recognize this is one cookie that is simple to make, and if done right completely delicious.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 C. Powdered Sugar
- 1 C. Butter, soft
- 2 tsp. Vanilla extract
- 2 C. Flour
- 1 C. Finely ground Almonds
- 1/4 tsp. Salt
- 3/4 C. Powdered sugar
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl combine 1/2c. Powdered sugar, Butter, and Vanilla. Beat until light and fluffy. Add Flour, Almonds, and Salt. Mix until dough forms. Roll into one inch balls and bake 13-17 minutes, or until set but not brown. Cool for ten minutes and then roll each ball inĀ powdered sugar. Cool another 15 minutes or until completely cool then roll again in powdered sugar.
I like to mix this recipe up a bit and sometimes I will use Pecans instead of Almonds. In fact the last batch I made, I used both Almonds and Pecans. I like to explore with this recipe and in the future I plan on trying different Nuts. One important thing to remember when baking these cookies is how long they are baked for. Bake them too long and they will be hard. Not long enough and they will be too soft. There is a perfect time, a perfect amount of baking. In my oven that time is just around 13 minutes. You want the underside of the cookie to be slightly brown. Baking these for too long will ruin them.
If you plan on baking these and then moving them to say a party be sure to bring along some extra powdered sugar. Even after rolling them twice, moving them around can cause the powdered sugar to get knocked off. If done right this cookie will be melt in your mouth perfection no matter what name you choose to call it.
