American Idol review
American Idol has been a sensation on TV, and in the media for some time now.
This season of American Idol is no different, you have supposed scandals with pictures of, oh no a girl touching another girls boob, fully clothed. I can think of at least 5 times where one of my female friends has grabbed a bit of my action. I believe I even have a picture (thanks Elaine.) I am going to bet that this goes on a lot between females. It is almost like guys slapping each other’s butts in sports. You may not understand it, but it is something that just happens. I don’t think it hurt Ramiele Malubay, but I think last night’s performance may have. I just didn’t get it, and I think she could have done better.
The same can be said for Syesha Mercado, no she doesn’t have any sort of scandal behind her, but last night’s performance wasn’t great. I don’t know why she keeps picking song’s Whitney Houston has either made or covered. The small changes she made in the song were not enough to distinguish it from Whitney’s version, and it sounded like a low key performance of a great song.
All that negativity aside my favorite performances on American Idol last night were David Cook, who duh I kind of favor because he is from Missouri. Aside from that small favor I think he has amazing potential. He could win the whole thing if the tween’s don’t over power the vote system for David Archuleta. David Archuleta, who’s name I can’t hear without thinking about Adam Archuleta ( previously worked for the St. Louis Rams,) has a great voice, and he is adorable. We have all established that, but even with his amazing vocals I wonder can he do more then just sing slow soft songs? Sure there is a market for it, but I would rather have a rocker who can sing a ballad, then a ballad singer who can’t take on anything much else.
Michael Johns is another one of my top picks. He reminds me of a singer from the 60’s. His performance of “It’s All Wrong, But All Right” was wonderful, and even though he is no Freddie Mercury, I loved his rendition of “We Will Rock You” and “We Are the Champions.” I think he will go far, but could he win it all?
The other three that I think will go far are; Brooke White she has such smooth vocals, I really love the sound of her voice, and her smile is infectious. Jason Castro, who I think has a folk singer quality about him, his music could put me to sleep, which isn’t a bad thing, sometimes I need a little slow music to sleep at night. Finally Carly Smithson I am up in the air about how far along she will get, but I love her style, and her music. I think Simon’s comment on her wardrobe last night was really harsh, and it looked like it upset her. I can think of a ton of musicians who dress oddly and still sing great music, I don’t really think fashion belongs in a singing contest, but sadly some people do.
American Idol is a great opportunity for everyone involved, and a lot of the singers that come out of the competition have done great things music wise. This season of American Idol has been brilliant, and I have much anticipation about tonight’s vote off results. I hope America gets it right as the judges like to say.
So what do you say? Who do you think did great last night, and who should get the boot?

I haven’t picked a favorite yet, but I can narrow it down to David Cook, Carly Smithson, Michael Johns, and Brooke White. As for who I predict will go far, I would go with Michael Johns and Brooke White. Jason Castro, sometimes I really like him, other times I get bored.
David Cook wasn’t up to his game last night…http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/thedishrag/2008/04/david-cook-and.html
I don’t usually care for many reality shows cause of all the extra drama, but I do like the ones like Idol that are more about reaching dreams and goals.
I hear you on that, I am so sick of seeing people just doing awful things on reality tv. Idol actually makes me happy to be watching it. You and I agree on picks. My fav thing about American Idol is the way Ryan Seacrest says THIS IS AMERICAN IDOL. LOL I know, I know that is corny, but it is true.
America absolutely disappointed me tonight with the vote off of Michael Johns
I could get you for this one Dragon you posted this comment my hubby came and read it, and we had not watched IDOL YET ahhhhh, lol he was so disappointed that he knew already lol
Whoops! I am so sorry
I’ll wait two days next time!
