My Sister, I love you

When my Sister and I were younger we were always at each other. Sibling rivalry and all that great stuff. BasicallySister we despised each other with a sometimes violent passion, we are three years a part, and she is my only sibling.

Something happened to us as we grew up though, we both matured, we both realized the error of our ways. We both secretly pray that we don’t have to deal with our kids acting the awful way we did with each other. My sister and I are very close now, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

My sister is pregnant for the 2nd time. Her first pregnancy resulted in my wonderful headstrong (just like her mama,) neice. She is 5 now and very excited about being a big sister. This pregnancy hasn’t been easy for my sister, much harder then the first. About a week ago she started feeling some pain in her side, and then it progressed to pretty much pain all over. She went to the doctor worried about her baby, we all were. At first the Doctor’s thought it might be Kidney stones. After further examination they found that she has a Cyst.

The Doctors weren’t sure what they wanted to do at first. The cyst is big, and draining it was an option, but it is the type of cyst that will just fill back up, so that option was removed. They have decided to surgically remove the cyst. Of course with any surgery there is a risk, and we are all worried about my sister and the little one growing inside of her. She goes in on the 28th for her surgery and will be staying over night to make sure that both she and the baby are going to be fine.

It goes without saying that I am deeply worried about my sister and the baby. We have been talking on the phone a lot lately, and I do my best to try and comfort her. I keep her in my prayers and send massive positive thoughts her way.

If you are reading this sis, past behind us, and know that I love you so much. I am here for you anytime, and don’t ever hesitate. I love you, always have and always will no matter what. It may have taken years for both of us to realize how important we are to each other, but we have, and together we are a force to be reckon with. I feel your worry it is heavy in my heart and mind, know that I pray for this to all turn out right.

I leave you all with some sisterly quotes for the day. I hope you all have a great Memorial Day, please keep my sister and her unborn baby in your thoughts and prayers.

“A sister can be seen as someone who is both ourselves and very much not ourselves - a special kind of double.” ~Toni Morrison

“If you don’t understand how a woman could both love her sister dearly and want to wring her neck at the same time, then you were probably an only child.” ~Linda Sunshine

“Sisters is probably the most competitive relationship within the family, but once the sisters are grown, it becomes the strongest relationship.” ~Margaret Mead

“There can be no situation in life in which the conversation of my dear sister will not administer some comfort to me.” ~Mary Montagu

“She is your mirror, shining back at you with a world of possibilities. She is your witness, who sees you at your worst and best, and loves you anyway. She is your partner in crime, your midnight companion, someone who knows when you are smiling, even in the dark. She is your teacher, your defense attorney, your personal press agent, even your shrink. Some days, she’s the reason you wish you were an only child.” ~Barbara Alpert

  1. I admire the relationship you have with your sister. I am one of three and the other two are brothers (one older, one younger). My brother’s wife and I have become close in the past year, and I only hope that one day we can have a bond as strong as yours.

You are both in my thoughts and prayers.

  2. Hi Rachel, I got your message on my blog. I missed you! Hope all is well with your sister! I’ll keep her in my thoughts! I’m the baby in my family with two older sisters. I get along with both, but the other two don’t always get along. Sister relationships can be complicated! Hope everything goes well for her & her baby. I’ll TTYL.

  3. I wish your sister all the best with the surgery, that must be so scary for her. :(

  4. it is amazing how growing up can make such a difference in siblings getting along. My sister and I are 5 years apart and get along so well now. I am glad you have that with your sister. I hope surgery goes well and both momma and baby are safe though it all. How scary.

  5. I’ll keep your sister in my thoughts. I had a cyst removed from my left ovary in 1993, and I know it’s major surgery.

  6. Sending your sister and family lots of good luck with her surgery. Everything will work out fine and it will make your bond even stronger.

  7. Hi! I saw your post about your sister in the EC forum and felt your deep concern.

Please read my message in the forum. I, too, am praying for your sister and the little one!

    Blessings,

    Viqi
