What is it about the male species and them not being able to relate to girls playing video games?

I often take the views I receive while playing video games with a grain of salt. Most people don’t know how to behave properly and they can be very rude. I have been playing video games since I was a kid and Super Nintendo came out. I have played on and through so many gaming consoles it isn’t even funny. With the Internet eventually came a revolution in game playing. I play online, I play  MMORPG  (Massively Multi-Player Role Playing Game,) I play FPS (first person shooters,) and so much more. I am really excited about spore and can’t wait for it to come out. So what is it that I am talking about with guys and them not being able to handle the female species playing video games?

Ever since the Internet combined ways for us to get in contact with each other while playing a game I have suffered either one kind of verbal assault or another. If I speak on a game I am automatically deemed a prepubescent boy, and then if I do say I am a girl, I get all kinds of verbal abuse thrown at me. Some of it sexual most of it just bad words, and of course I get described in one way or another. Like if I play games and i’m a chick I must be ugly, or fat, or pathetic. If I am a mother and play games then I must not give enough attention to my child and I am a badddd, badddd mom lol. I think this is hilarious mind you because if I’m ugly fat and pathetic because I play games I wonder what they look like lol. There is always “prove it” I need proof I can’t believe you are a girl and playing video games.

It is a very sexiest point of view to assume that girls don’t play video games, even more to assume that we can’t play them well. I have run into a lot of guys who think my husband is very lucky just because I play games. It isn’t every male, I know there are some decent ones out there, trouble is you run into all kinds of younger kids playing on the Internet, in some games that I can’t even believe their parents are letting them play. No one has taught these types of people young or old about respect and about sports-manly like conduct.

Sometimes I feel like if I could reach through the computer and smack some of these people I would. Bottom line is girls play video games, big ones, small ones, hey we happen to come in all shapes and sizes. So to all you Males out there that can’t even fathom a girl picking up a controller, or moving her mouse and keyboard to a game get over yourselves. We happen to be very capable of doing just about everything you can do, and we have the added bonus of having more tact and grace.

Oh a little side note I would like to give a shout out to my gamer friend who just started his own blog, great blog, brand new. Here is a short list of games I reccommed, not all of these are safe for kids, so I wouldn’t go out purchasing these for your children.

1. CSS -Counter Strike Source ~ I have been playing this game for a long time and I still can’t get enough can you say “BOOM HEADSHOT”

2. Guildwars ~ Unlike other MMO’s I like the way this one plays, and the fact that you don’t have to wait until you are level 70 or above for the real fun to start. I do think some changes need to be made and I am hopeful that this will be done.

3. Unreal Tournament 3 ~ I loved the 2004 version, and I waited so long for the next one to come out. I do like the game play, but it doesn’t seem as much fun to me as 2004 possibly because I had to wait so long.

4. Guitar Hero ~ Online or on a gaming console ( I have xbox 360,) this is just plain fun for adults and kids alike, I can’t do anything better then medium yet, but I have only had it for about two months.

5. Spore Creature Creator ~ Here is a family one, infact my son loves to help create creatures, and actually it stimulates his imagination, he has come up with his own styles and even names for the monsters he puts together. He is going to be 4 years old soon and this is a game he enjoys.
